The Directorate of Communications and Information Technology operates within the structure of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police and is responsible for creating the police’s information and communications system. It organizes, operates, and coordinates this system efficiently to make use of the established databases in the interest of operational units for the understanding and prevention of criminal activities.
The Directorate of Communications and Information Technology has the following structure:

Responsibilities:
- Designs and implements integrated IT applications, components of the police’s information system, and ensures their deployment across territorial police units.
- Develops the strategy for interconnecting databases created in various operational fields of the police, according to needs, and facilitates data exchange between the components of the police’s unified information system.
- Designs and builds computer networks, data transmissions, and communications, either with in-house resources or through specialized companies, and carries out operations for configuring computing equipment and transmissions.
